Default Game Developers and their Communities.

How many people here have been on other fan fair developer communities before? Take your time and think, about it. Many of has been to the different sides of the communities either it be FPS, Simulations, Action, Adventure and etc; we all have been there and done it. I’ve been on countless from the good, to the bad, to the extremely ugly; and can tell you about all my experiences within these communities (but I hate to bore you or entice you). This thread is about all of that and what it really does for us, as well as the people who make these games.

1. The first thing on the list would be the positive and negative feedback by the community. We all have done it by either sheer praise or total discuss; why do we do these things is it because we are the dreaded so called, “Fanboy” or “Troll?” The answer is technically “No” (at least in my opinion) because we all have formed an opinion about what we have thought through (we are only human after all). Why do some people dislike one thing but love another, is it that hypocritical (maybe depending on the issue)? I could give you a example of this but most of it you know by now what it is.

2. The game developer feedback or lack there of. Some communities have really great listeners, and responders; while other have little or no regard for what their have to say (“cough” EA games “cough”). However with that comes a “double edge sword,” some people can see through the thick fog of the hype machine (especially this generation). Others see it as praise and salvation to answers of what games truly are.

3. The moderators of the community forum. As well as we all know forums come with security or police that make sure that freedom of speech, can only go so far (we don’t want to scare the children). Sometimes they can be rather fair from my past experiences, but there are those who play favorites to either the fans or the game developer themselves. Even though some of us either loath them, or love them, most of will agree they need to be their.

These are just some of the main points I would like you to discuss, with fair game to any other community including this one (however remember you are being watched and monitored). Examples are Lionhead Studios, Bungie Studios, Cyan (witch I still cry over their departure from the gaming world), Atari, 3D Realms, EA games, and so on. Please explain why and how they have made the art of video gamming for better or worse.

12/4/2006 EDIT- Considering now that either people hate me, just plain have less intellectual interest, or have no idea what I’m talking about; I can see this thread is going no where.

To the mod’s please delete this thread and save me the humiliation please. Thank You.

Kind Regards,
Sindex
